The Black Equipment Finance Network created the Rising Leaders Scholarship to support students who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership potential, and an interest in careers in equipment finance. The program helps students succeed academically while gaining early exposure to a field that offers long-term opportunity and growth.

Who Should Apply
This scholarship is for students attending HBCUs or eligible Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) who are committed to their academic progress, have demonstrated leadership or service, and are interested in pursuing careers in equipment finance or related business fields.

Eligible majors and interests may include finance, accounting, business administration, economics, management, analytics, information systems, supply chain, or related disciplines.
​
Participation in the CLFP Academic Mini-Certification Program or an equipment finance internship may provide helpful context during review but is not required. Students early in their exposure to equipment finance or related business, technology, or analytics fields are encouraged to apply.
How to Apply

The application can be completed in one sitting and typically takes 30–45 minutes.

Required
• Most recent official academic transcript
• Resume (1–2 pages)
• One letter of recommendation (professor, advisor, or community leader)
• Personal essay (500–750 words) responding to the prompt in the application
Optional but encouraged
• Short video statement (2–3 minutes): “Why I’m a Future Business Leader”
• Financial circumstances statement
• Personal resilience statement
How Applications Are Evaluated
Applications are reviewed by a selection committee comprised of industry professionals and academics using a holistic evaluation approach. Evaluation criteria:

• Academic performance and progress

• Leadership, service, and involvement
• Evidence of interest in equipment finance and career readiness
• Internship or industry engagement (if applicable)
• Financial need and personal circumstances (if shared)
• Strength, clarity, and authenticity of the applicant’s essay
